NaBloPoMo – Haunted

Filed under: NaBloPoMo — SwissTwist @ 7:06 am

The (optional) NaBloPoMo theme for October, fitting with All Hallows Eve and all that, is Haunted. Hopefully I’ll be haunted by committed participation to blog everyday :-)

We’re all haunted in some way or another, aren’t we? Be it by memories, people we have loved or even hated (in my case, both apply). Our day to day lives seem to be filled with thoughts, images and emotions that linger, remind, haunt…

Wishing you all a good start to October, let the games begin!

I’m in a bad place right now. Just unhappy, angry, tearful. I could easily rip anyone’s head from their shoulders without much effort at all.

I have no idea why though, I mean I know of a few things that could have triggered this but there’s not one thing in particular that I can blame it all on. It is all about putting the blame somewhere, right? So anyway, I can’t blame any one thing or situation, I’m just seriously fucked off and sad.

I have been okay up to now though; went shopping at a new Brit shop in Zug where we bought pork bangers and ginger cake amongst other things – dinner of bangers and mash was fabulous! I had an awesome pedi Saturday afternoon, now my french-gelled-toes look great and on Sunday we went to the Knabenschiessen fair and had a really great time playing games, etc. Mr Twist even went on one of the rides, I wasn’t brave enough to attempt going on any.  Check out some photos of the day here. I’m still enjoying work, though  it has been busy, and except for a nasty situation that I’ve been dealing with – it seems to be handled for now, but you know how things linger, its going to take a while for everything to be ‘normal’ again.

So I’m hoping this sorts itself out, one way or the other. In the mean time I’ll find comfort in the Autumn rain.

September, oh September

What a big month September is for me. This particular year, it marks the 5th anniversary of my first arrival in Switzerland. I say first as it was a) the very first time I’d ever been here but also not my official moving to Switzerland date as I went back to SA soon after again in November. (My date of permanent entry and residence in in January when I returned for good.) So yes,  5 years since my arrival in Switzerland!!! Amazing, scary, fun, hateful, romantic, sad, loving, exciting, educating, life changing- that is the last 5 years for me.

Last Saturday, which was to-the-day-of my arrival, we went to see The Hangover (yes, I know, so very delayed, its almost off circuit already). It’s been a long time since I laughed so much, I loved the movie, couldn’t find anything to fault it! After the movie we decided to go to dinner and just co-incidentally, we went to the cinema in Hardbrücke close to MamaAfrica. It seem fated and quite fitting that we go to a restaurant with the “Flavours of South Africa” on this  anniversary! Needless to say, it was a complete and utter disappointment, we’d have done better eating from one of the food stalls at the train station than eat there. (A full review to follow soon.) Sunday was a total washout with the worst havfever attack I’ve had all summer, I spent most of the day passed out from over-medication.

One week after I arrived in Switzerland was the Knabenschiesen competition and Chilbi, which Mr Twist and I attended, we’ve made it a tradition to go to this fair every year since then. It’s being held this weekend and I’m definitely going to go and eat fishy bites011, garlic bread, candy floss, take a ride on the Ferris wheel015 (yes only the Ferris wheel cos I’m a wimp) and also play lots of carnival games to win silly stuff toys.009

This September I also celebrate my first year in my ‘new’ job. Yes, I know its not new anymore, but it still feels like it – in a really good way. I’m more sure of my decision now than ever, changing jobs was the best thing for me. I’m enjoying working for a large, multinational company and best of all is the all the staff I work with and the interesting projects I get to be part of. One clear advantage of the change is that I get to speak a whole lot more German, and not only High German but Schwiizertüütsch too! Not forgetting the fantastic perks of the job too!

Lastly, and certainly not least, September also rings in the end of Summer and start of my favourite two seasons!! I love the cold! I love the colours of Autumn Random1 oct 006 and the breathtaking beauty of Winter!!!IMG_0150

So yes, September, oh September, what a great month!! Happy celebrating!

Your Love Is Red
When you love someone, your love is intense and dramatic. For you, love is passion.
You enjoy seducing someone and being seduced. You like feeling romantically overwhelmed. You’re the type of person who loves whoever you want, and you’re often drawn toward forbidden love.
You are also stubborn about getting the person you’re interested in to fall for you. You love chasing after what you want.
